  1. I think the best call in a swing situation like this is 4♠, active interest in slam with both minors. [4NT would be both minors, taking a shot at eleven tricks.] Presumably our teammates at the other table (who also know the situation) will blast 3♠ at these colors, and the opponents will just give up and bid 3NT. I wouldn't be shocked to win 16 when 6m makes and 3NT doesn't. And on a nice day when pard holds ♠--- ♥Txxx ♦Qxxxxx ♣AJx we can have an intelligent auction to 7♦ and are now down only 3 IMPs when the teammates take the first five heart tricks against 3NT at the other table.
  2. This is a fairly standard UI situation - if RHO had a logical alternative to the "winning action" - passing if light - the TD will adjust the score, since the UI definitely suggested that the bidder had a poor hand for his actions.
  3. This works really great if all your bids are made in tempo, all the time. When pard takes ninety seconds to double and you pull, this is basically forcing to committee.
  4. This is actually a reasonably good example of a double-and-bid hand over a preempt. It shows the same strength as a 4S bid, just more than one possible strain in which to play.
  5. I think pass is forcing here. 4♠ isn't just some hand that's shooting out a game hoping for a random 8-count from pard to bring it home. A jump over a preempt shows a REAL HAND - and should turn on FP for our side.
  6. But I would definitely play systems on in the auction [hv=d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1hpp1np]133|100[/hv] Thus getting opener on lead.
  7. When I play 'systems on', I generally play this as a checkback for a stopper in their suit. I agree with whereagles' rebid structure above. I'm not of the opinion that transfers are all that important in this situation though. Yes, all other things being equal, you want the strong/tenacy hand to be led around to. But I think it's more important to have opener on lead - their strong/tenacy hand having to lead away from stuff. So given my choice, I'd play 2level new suits are nonforcing, 3level suits forcing, cuebid stayman.
