  1. Yeah, Diamonds are orange and clubs are green (and spades are actually blue, rather than black). Just how colorblind are you?
  2. I can't find it now, but I think I saw a similar hand (where GIB was on the verge of a quant. invite to 6 and passed) and georgi said this will be fixed in the next update.
  3. Conventions work better when your opponents have no defense to them.
  4. Yeah, I have. GIB is quite greedy like that, it won't always settle for one down. Just congratulate your partner on making once given the chance - that's also non-obvious.
  5. For me: 1. Nat 2. Nat 3. BW 4. No agreement. 5. No agreement - should probably be BW.
  6. It's not the best system, but have you read the description for 6NT?
  7. The issues are North's first pass (where I think most players would wonder how many hearts to open the hand) and his second pass (where he could at least make a lead-directing double, which in GIB's system shows a good suit)
  8. Also, that definition doesn't make a lot of sense to me. You seem to be saying that if I'm a Bridge prodigy, then I'm a beginner. That may have some syntactic value (if I've just begun, then I'm a beginner) but people are expecting the word to express something about skill level, not potential or calendar date.
  9. At trick 9, hopping ♦A and playing a ♦ seems enough to keep you to 11.
  10. You have the second here; It's called "watched topics".
  11. Thanks, I meant "for" and I still think it's silly :)
  12. (1x)-p-(1y)- 1NT is our NT overcall, so 15(+)-18, expected to stop both suits (but if x is a minor, might just have length). 2y is natural, so 5+ decent suit. 2x is an ill-defined "general force". Probably should be something else. Undiscussed by a passed hand.
  13. onoway, I've read somewhere they're killing Hotmail completely. Sorry. (also, blaming the OS on declining PC sales is silly IMO)
  14. Sorry, I thought it was clear.0. We only play Sandwich NT by a passed hand. If that's the case then: 1. Double is a hand with more defense than 1NT. 2. 1NT shows less shape than 2NT, which is still unusual in that position. In essence, double tells your partner: "you can compete but feel free to leave this with a trump stack, or double them later in the auction". 1NT tells your partner: "let's get our 8 card fit in the 2-level and then shut up". 2NT tells your partner: "if you have a fit, let's go nuts". It's gross oversimplification, but that's the spirit of things.
  15. I think he means self-rating, so it's not that difficult. I suspect a real advanced player can easily trounce random BBO experts.
  16. Personally, as a passed hand (don't play Sandwich NT otherwise), X shows more defense than 1NT shows less shape than 2NT. Warning: might not be optimal.
  17. It just gets funnier the more you spam the topic with these replies.
  18. Can the 2♣->2NT people explain what's so awesome about this balanced 20-count to make you upgrade it by 2 HCP?
  19. Yeah, it changed in version 24: http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/48870-gib-version-19-released/page__view__findpost__p__674933
  20. Note that for GIB a cue bid shows extra strength beyond the control. So it's possible it simulates you've very likely to have filler in clubs and trots out BW.
  21. I play X here as Stayman. It's not the most efficient treatment, but it adds no memory strain.
  22. I guess it depends on how you cue: 1NT-2♣ 2♥-3♠ 4♣ For me opener denied a ♠ control. Now responder has the ♠ control but not the ♦ control. Probably 4♦ should be last train and show this, but if it's not, then I guess you have to cue 4♠, and then you're again stuck - should opener bid 5♦ to confirm the ♦ control? Now responder can't show his ♣K lower than the 6-level, and there's just no room to show queens. I'm sure there are cue bidding styles that can overcome this, which is why I asked keylime how he'd do.
  23. Shouldn't 3♠ show three cards here, assuming OP plays the standard 1M = 4+, X = both majors 4+ after 1♣-(1♦)?
