About Me
31 year old software engineer from Tel Aviv, Israel. I really love games. I'm reasonably adept at Chess, Poker and Magic: the Gathering. Was a level 3 judge for the latter (and am constantly amazed by how different TDing is from judging).
I think I'm a slightly above-average intermediate - it's difficult to say because I don't play much outside the club and the BBO "intermediate" category is ridiculously wide. I've been playing for ~2 years, the first year of which was a complete waste of time, but luckily now I have a good partner and strong people I can contact - and that's outside of BBF, which is also a great resource.
I'm currently working on my counting - I'm far too lazy at the table, there's really no excuse not to count every hand but I often get carried away when playing and just forget about it. Other than that my declarer play is decent for my level, I no longer make newbie errors and I don't yet make extraordinary plays. My main problem declaring is that sometimes I fall in love with a plan and don't update it when other opportunities present themselves. I was like that back when I was a chess player, too -- if I saw a good queen sac, by God I would reach the point I could make it, even if my opponent's defense already crumbled just in setting the position up so I could just win the "standard" way.
On defense this is also a problem, but a lesser one. Mostly I duck too much, I love ducking like most people love bluffing. Not a good habit :)
Bidding is my weakest area, mostly when it comes to judging the potential of hands. I'm often too optimistic in uncontested auctions, and too pessimistic in contested auctions.
