  1. Just a simple auction, but what exactly does "no ♠" mean? It's quite confused and should be explained in a more clear way Soloway jump shift rebid
  2. I don't open 1NT with 5 majors 95% of the time, which is not modern style now. But this hand is obviously that 5% which I will open 1NT.
  3. So TCR only show percentage in 2 months right? That's the key for me, thanks. I thought TCR is all-time total, I must be wrong
  4. Does "Free automated fun" not count? I play that but my TCR is fixed at 67% for years. Or is my account "blacklisted" can't update???
  5. When you complete a tournament(or group challenge) and the tournament isn't completed, you will receive a popup window that you can view provisional results. But if you don't save the web address for it and close the window, you can't view provisional results further. Only because there's no entrance for that...I suggest there should be an entrance in tournament/challenge. It's desirable when you click the tournament you completed, you can view the latest provisional result.
  6. How can I update TCR now? I thought it's abandoned, because no matter how I play tournaments, TCR don't update at all. Do only certain type of tournaments count for TCR? If so, what are the tournaments?
  7. I will pass for now and expect for an all pass. There's great chance opponent's suit higher, and making an minor opening bid can only increase the chance for 4th seat to overcall with major.
  8. I think 7♦ would be a bit overbid(though marginal), you have to rely on ♦2-2, or the defender has 3♦ and length in ♠. If no interference, the auction can be very easy. simple natural bids: S N 1♦ 3NT 4♦ 4♠ 4NT 5♣ 6♦ ====================== But what if West bid 1♥? I think the auction can be: 1♦ (1♥) Pass! - South is very likely to be short in hearts and he will balance. 1♠ 2♥ - If I have 4 spades, I will X previously. So this cuebid can't mislead to spades trump, it's only a strength showing, meaning the first pass isn't no strength, only no obvious bid. 3♦ 3♠ - I can't have spades support, so it's a control showing cuebid. 3NT 4♣ - South don't know North has so much strength, so would bid 3NT. North continue with control showing cuebid 4NT 5♣ 6♦ just as no interference. ====================== When you have no obvious bid, and you think the bidding won't die (in a good chance) if you pass, why not PASS? Of course, this need partner's agreement that PASS didn't absolutely deny strength.
  9. Yes, sometimes GIB bid suit with not enough length which is a disaster already, leave me no reasonable options. Here's an example: http://202.38.64.10/~milancam/3.png Why not just PASS here???
  10. May I present two screenshots here. When I replace normal texts with Chinese, it's all ok. http://202.38.64.10/~milancam/1.png But Chinese can't display in exercises, it display blank boxes. http://202.38.64.10/~milancam/2.png
  11. There are some of my friends want to learn bridge, and I suggest them to view the software of Learn To Play Bridge. However not everyone's English is good. I found in the software, the texts are all in the DATA file just in plain text format, so I decide to make a Chinese version myself. The majority is ok, but I found Chinese can't be displayed in two environments: (1) The alert of bidding, (2) The exercises. The first may be not very concerned, but obviously the second one is an important problem. In those environments, if I replace the texts with Chinese, they simply display boxes. I know this is because the font don't support Chinese, but I have no idea how to solve it. I see the text in DATA file contains many text format marks, and I am almost sure the problem has something to do with that. However I can't solve it out. I hope the authors of LTPB is still here, and I want some help here. I hope my try of making a Chinese version isn't violating the license rule (I don't think so since it's freeware).
  12. If 4NT is blackwood then it's no reason. So I suppose in some specific auction 4NT isn't blackwood but natrual? Could you post the whole auction
  13. It's friend challenge, so we were South, I bid 2♠ and my opponent chose 3♠. Sorry I don't know how to add names in hand diagram, and maybe it confused you. You are right so I did blackwood. When we play friend challenge we don't check the advanced robot option. But if robot opener had slam interest after 2♠, how can it had no interest after 3♠. 3♠ was surely stronger. It's true North had fewer choices, but I think either cuebid or blackwood is OK.
  14. But it's against real bridge, in real bridge you don't declare so many hands. Anyway, add a checkbox isn't much, for most of you don't like, just leave the checkbox off
  15. If I hold A976, I would lead 6 (4th). And also if I had already led 7 by mistake, I must had unblocked 9 to second trick. Sorry my opponent didn't lead diamond, I don't know what will happen if lead 6. But I don't think 6 is proper lead here (might confuse partner, did I have 4 diamonds?)
  16. Maybe in gib system, 2♠ is forcing to 3♦, so if you bid 2NT, North can't pass?
  17. I have some friends but hard to get online simultaneously, so we play friend challenges a lot. Now I have some suggestions: 1. Can we add a "Classic" option for challenges (also can have more classic tournaments)? Being dummy is part of bridge, we just think when you are dummy, you are forced to declare that's not fair. Although declarer skill is important, but doubled declaring hands isn't the true thing happening on real table, so why should we declare dummy's hands on challenges or tournaments? 2. We have "barometer" options on team matches, and we think it can also be an option in challenge. Of course, if my opponents plays a challenge first, and when I play, I can see the results played, it can affects my strategy and someone may think it's not fair. But at least it adds a fun option, and it can be a checkbox when creating challenge. More options can't be worse, and I think it should be easy to program technically. 3. Is it possible to create a challenge for multiple people? I mean, all players with 3 robots playing same hands, and the result is calculated among all the tables. Just like robot tournaments did. We are glad if this can be implemented in future. Now my friends hold round robin challenges and calculate VPs, but we think if such an options implements, it can only be better. We can all play same hands and after playing, discussing all players' decisions. (Maybe it exists some reason for you not to implement it? If so, explanations please)
  18. I play friend challenges a lot, and recently I found two deals where GIB wasn't understandable. The first one is in bidding. It's probably not really a bug, but it seems GIB's hand evaluation isn't well-defined. My table: [hv=pc=n&s=s7652h9dt93caq754&w=sqj3hkqj87dk876c6&n=sakt98hat632dackj&e=s4h54dqj542ct9832&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp2sp4dp4np5dp5hdrp6sppp]399|300[/hv] Maybe my bid wasn't perfect, but at least it's a good slam. BTW, I should mention a minor problem here. 5♥ is asking queen and doubled, then what's North's redouble mean? I think it should be DOPI, showing no queen. But GIB says it showing ♥A which I think it's not very reasonable. (This hand has no queen just by accident) However, which I mainly want to show is my opponent's table. When the challenge finished I saw my opponent stopped in 4♠, but when I saw what happened, I was shocked. [hv=pc=n&s=s7652h9dt93caq754&w=sqj3hkqj87dk876c6&n=sakt98hat632dackj&e=s4h54dqj542ct9832&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1sp3sp4sppp]399|300[/hv] We know, 3♠ is limit raise and should be stronger than 2♠. How can North have some slam interest after 2♠, but no interest after 3♠??? ========================================================= Now the second hand. It's a very silly defensive error I think. [hv=pc=n&s=s942hak85da76c954&w=sa875hj32d4cak732&n=sqj3h97dqjt853cj8&e=skt6hqt64dk92cqt6&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1c2dd3d3sp3nppp&p=d7d4dtd2dqdkdac2d6s5d5]399|300[/hv] The third trick totally shocked me. East shown stopper, so I can't lead ♦A and instead choose ♦7. North surely should know ♦ are all good, but how can North didn't take third trick and save the contract from down 4 to made? Can North think I was dealt ♦9? But if so, I should play it earlier to avoid blocking. This is totally undesirable for us. ========================================================= Looking forward for explanation and maybe further repairs. I created diagram here because I forgot how to post link directly, but they are absolutely true deals, I swear.
  19. I will start at 2♣(invert minor) or 3♦(splinter) in North. However it's still hard to get slam cuz of ♦K.
  20. Extremely thanks! I met similar situation too and it was a grand slam omfg! I saw bidding and first trick same, and declarer's second trick led different suit. -16 IMPs to me oops. Well we met another deal which was a game, bidding and lead same, declarer follow different card. +10 IMPs to me. and I still lost 6. Sorry my network is bad now so I can't post the deals. But the GIB really need update. Several times I see GIB made very silly mistakes, as declarer just surrender tricks and down, and as defender just unreasonably duck and surrender many tricks. I hope this is fixed now, or at least will be fixed in near future

  22. Yesterday I was really shocked by two hands in friendly challenge. [hv=pc=n&s=skj962hq54d62cj54&w=s754haktdakt9c962&n=sat3hj863dq7543c7&e=sq8h972dj8cakqt83&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=p1cp1dp2cp3nppp]399|300[/hv] Believe it or not, north led singleton ♣7……WTF lead singleton dummy rebid against 3NT?I had nothing to say when I saw the led…… Of course I admit that it's hard to lead right ♠, perhaps north may lead a ♥ and 3NT still certain. But at least ♣ is silly. The second hand came even more shocked. [hv=pc=n&s=sq62h532d963ca984&w=sakt3hakqj9datcqj&n=s8h764dq8754ct763&e=sj9754ht8dkj2ck52&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=ppp2cp2dp2hp2sp3sp4np5dp5hp5sppp&p=cacjc3c5c4cqctc2s3s8s5s2d7d2d3dtstd8s9]399|300[/hv] Look like a normal contract, but look at the play…… No idea at all, can't imagine the play went this way and declarer suicide with two trump losers. Even a newbie bridge declarer should not make mistake like this, really didn't know why……
  23. I'm a beginner but I won't choose either of the listed bids. I won't choose 1NT, I think it's wrong to bid 1NT without real stopper, partner may go to hopeless 3NT. Because I can't bid 1NT and must bid a suit, the ♥J has no value to me. I can say I have 9 points, jump bid is (9-11), but I think the shape is so ugly that I will downgrade the hand and think it not enough for a jump bid. So 3♦ and 2♥ are out of the question. 2♦ is a reasonable choice, but I prefer 1♠ to 2♦, because if my partnership do have enough strength and can't play 3NT, usually 4♠ is a better game contract
