Echognome
[hv=d=e&v=e&s=sakhk8d6cakqj8643]133|100|Scoring: Chicago(2♥)* - X - (4♥) - P(P) - ?[/hv]* 8-12 hcp, 5+ hearts We were playing for fun after a recent bridge match at a friend of mine's. One of the guys picked up this beast with hand shuffled cards. (Although we properly shuffle 7 or 8 times.) He had this interesting problem to deal with. 1) Would you have doubled the first round?2) What would you bid now?
Guest Jlall
1) Yes or no, depending. If 3H immediately is a stopper ask, that's what I would bid. I know this is a minority view even playing this method, but it's a better way to start with this hand type i think (obviously with the intention of bidding again). If it isn't, X is my only reasonable start. 2)Now I would just bid 5C. Wimpy I know, but theres no way to find out what you need to know (4N would not be blackwood). Interestingly, when I played with Bart Bramley for the first timehe informed me that all 4N bids that were jumps were blackwood. He included 2H-4N in that. What a perfect hand for that convention this is, and I don't know anyone else who plays that.
SoTired
over 2H, I bid 4N, straight blackwood.I pass 5C, bid 6C over 5D and 7N over 5H.... wtp?
MickyB
Double then 5♣ seems normal unless you expect 4NT to be Blackwood.
whereagles
Another of those "Do you feel lucky, punk?". If yes, 6C. If no, 5C.
pclayton
I think I'd just try a direct 6♣ at this vulnerability on the 'one useful card' approach. Even then, won't they usually sac over 6♣ at these colors? No guarantee they can figure out the suits to cash in 6♣ anyway.

In the expert community, over a weak 2 H/S, are 4C, 4D leaping michaels or something else? tnx
Guest Jlall
with Bart we played: 2H-3H=stopper ask2H-4m=leaping michaels2H-4H=minors2H-4N=straight blackwood (!!)
Al_U_Card
I kinda like that 4H bid for the minors......especially the reward of freeing up 4NT which i expect is used by some(most) to show the minors and 4H is some kind of uber-hand that would have opened 2C or is that hand shown by dbl then (3)H....?
