1 - (2) - 3 - (P)

3 - (P) - 3 - All Pass[/hv]

I admit that this one I butchered completely. Saw my partner make a few aggressive bids earlier and wasn't feeling confident he meant his 3 as a game force. (He later said he thought my 3 was game forcing.) Obviously we needed to agree it. I think that playing a new suit at the 3 level as game forcing makes a lot of sense though, so take full responsibility. Live and learn.

Matt, what may have happened is you felt ashamed of your cue bid and passed a forcing bid. Playing sayc, 2/1, or ACOL ( I guess), 3 should be a game force.

I wouldn't cue with this, since I don't use cue bids to 'punt'. I would just rebid my nice 5 card suit.
