luis
It's interesting to note that if west unblocks the cK on the cA you have to play all your trumps without ruffing a diammond and then the 4 diammonds finally leting east win the cQ and he has to put you back in hand with the sK to cash the cJ :-)
the hog
Luis should not feel insulted as that was definitely not the intention, though on re- reading my post I can understand how he came to that conclusion. The team in which he played did make the final and did win after all. However I am sure that he would be humble enough to accept that if Pszczola-Kwiecien had played the whole match the result may well likely have been different. The last comment in my previous post clearly refers to the fact that these two did not play throughout. Poland won the set they did play! From the hands which I got from Ben, it originally appeared that they did not play at all, but these were incomplete. Also despite the fact that the team in which Luis played had some strong players, I am sure he would also agree that they are not, (yet), at the level of Larsen, Fruewirth, DelMonte or Gitelman who can and do hold their own with the world's elite. When I looked at the hands played and the standard of play I was disappointed and the result, for me at any rate, was an anti climax. The standard of bridge was not nearly high as I had expected it to be, and that prompted my response. Ron

They are "pikolo" and "michal1" and they play 24 boards as it was announced (2nd segment EW Open room, 3rd segment EW Closed room). Pepsi-Cola and Kwiecen played 24 of the 26 boards of the match, they lost a segment by 9 imps and won by 20 once they were down 53 and we were running the preemptive defense against endzone passes. So I won't accept that the result would have been different we played better than they did. Period. And then you can say whatever you want trying to dismish the level of our players but this was a teams tournament and what counts is the team..... Finally we have at least 3 players that can easily play at top-elite level but they don't have money to do it nor we have a national asociation with interest in projecting Argentine bridge to world class competition. Instead of highlighting a win from a team with new names in bridge and a lot of future you say that there're better players that could have played..... It's sad....
