foxwhiz' tourneys

We're usually pretty easy about allowing a member to run free tourneys. All it takes is an email to gerardo@ from a member in good standing. Naturally, we prefer to grant TD permissions only to someone who has far more logins than aliases. A TD with insufficient experience w/the site is likely to make a mess of his first few Ts.

By that token, we're also pretty quick to revoke TD permissions from a TD who is (in our opinion) acting in a manner than does not benefit us all. TDs that schedule tourneys and fail to show up for them or TDs that play in their own huge tourneys and can't manage the TD calls usually have their TD rights revoked as quickly as they were granted.

We're far more careful about allowing TDs to post more than one tourney at a time. Here, we tend to refuse rather than grant the increased permissions. Limitations in our software make it easier to mess things up (create duplicate tourneys, create hundreds of tourneys) once the TD rights are increased to this level.

I won't discuss this particular case beyond saying that we've looked at it, have chosen a course of action and won't be swayed by an appeal to the forums.

I was unaware of this constraint, but I will pitch my support behind BBO management to know and understand, better than any of us, what is good for BBO. We are here, we're playing and having a wonderful time - so they must be doing something right.

Having said that, I will also heap great praise on Foxwhiz for the contribution he has made to the BBO environment. From the days when he organized a daily series of Foxes and Wolves team matches to his involvement in BBO Fans events and his Foxwhiz tourneys, he has certainly provided IMHO a high quality and entertaining environment in which to play the game we all love. If Foxie has gone out of bounds a little - I vote for cutting him some slack - still think in the +/- column this boy is way ahead. Thanks Donnie - keep truckin'

I had been thinking of running two tournaments in parallel, one pairs and one individual, but hadn't tried it yet, so I didn't realize it was not allowed.

Since I am frequently twiddling my thumbs during most of a tourney that I TD, I may ask permission to try it, but before I do, I'd appreciate hearing more detail about the possible problems and how to avoid them.

I have helped foxwhiz in the past TD'ng his tournies...he likes to run really large ones and having someone help out is great....i always thought it would be great for the software to allow the head TD to assign sections or group of tables to another TD whendirecting a large game...mainly because since you resize the BBO window you cant see all the tables at one time, and the biggest hassle is getting sitouts taken care of.
