West leads ♣K. Many chances to come to 11 tricks, and you would consider yourself a bit unlucky if you go down. Plan the play. Trumps are 2-1 in case that is of any help to you. Walddk
Is this too difficult? OK, let me give a hint to the beginners and intermediates. This contract is 100% certain to make if you choose the right line, given that trumps are 2-1, and they are as I said in my first post. (advanced/experts, hidden text please). Finch
I suppose you'd like someone to start the ball rolling. Ruff in hand, Ace of trumps, trump to the Queen, club ruff, AK of hearts, club discarding a heart. During the club ruffs and drawing trumps, I maintain a low trump in hand for a late entry to dummy. As a non-hidden hint: one of your losers is slightly unexpected.
badderzboy
Hi Frances, I've got the same line written down as above but couldn't see the 100% line from there... J42J65void A105voidKJ4Void Doh couldn't see the 100% line but now I do if RHO wins the club and returns a Heart then we discard Spade and Jack Hearts is promoted and gives us a discard. If RHO wins the club and returns a spade we duck to LHO who will either give us the option of ruffing the Heart Queen or put up the Jack against a low heart ( if the Q covers then Hearts were 3-3) and we have a discard for last spade or a free finesse in spades. If LHO wins the last club then either get a free finesse of the spade - duck in dummy and we have 2 winners or the Heart is set up - finally we get a ruff and discard if they play a club! I think!!! Trumpace
Very nice hand! hidden: We have 10 top tricks and need just one more.Spades seem suited for an endplay and we can eliminate clubs from both hands... How do we set up the hearts for an endplay? If hearts are 3-3 we dont need an endplay, but they are likely 4-2. If east leads a heart we can make a trick with the J.But what if west gets in the lead and leads a heart? What if we play AK of hearts and discard a heart on a club.We are left with Jx vs void. If west leads the suit, the suit either breaks 3-3 or the J is a winner. We can the set the hearts up for an endplay! So, ruff the first club high, play high trump trump to Q. ruff a club and draw second round of trump using the K. Play AK of hearts. Now lead the club Jack and discard a heart. Position is J42J65- AT5-T92- If opps lead a club we get and extra trick. If West leads a spade, we get an extra trick. If west leads a low heart, we put in the Jack. Either the J wins or hearts are 3-3 in which case the 6 is a winner and we have the trump 5 as entry. If East wins the club, and leads a heart, the jack is a winner. If east leads a spade, we let west win and now west is endplayed as above.
