BBO unstable?

Hi

for me, BBO is currently unplayable .. i can kib with no obvious problems but playing causes frequent disconnects . This has been a problem since version 4 .. roughly over the last 6 to 8 weeks. I am on a P4 laptop with XP pro, latest patches installed, 1Gb memory. I have already chased this up with ISP .. they report no known problems ...which I believe as i only have problems when connected to BBO.

What is going on?

For disconns, drop me a line, uday@....

If you use a satellite connection, let me know. Also whether wireless plays a part in your conn, and whether you are comfortable editing files using notepad. Finally, a sentence describing the nature of your conn won't hurt me (ie, dialup/cable/dsl, Local Lan?)

There are a couple of things we can try.

System has suffered more burps these past 4 weeks than it usually does. These were sprinkled over a few days (with one or two nasty ones).

Is 5 mins for login routine on a dialup? seems very high to me. But email, there is something which we can try, a simple tweak.

The BBO program is great, but it's the client, not the server, that carries the bugs In my hands, BBO version 3.9.0 is stable; load that version or e-mail me, and i'll send it to you. All subsequent versions suffer frequent disconnects on my machines which are variously connected (DSL up to T3).

Please do no such thing.

Old versions cause problems for us and you will not be able to log in at all with 3.9.0 for much longer.

Disconnections have nothing to do with what version you have. The network aspect of the BBO client program has not changed for years.

Everyone should use the latest version. If you have connection problems e-mail support@bridgebase.com. There is a reasonable chance that a solution can be found.

Crashes are another story. Some versions crash in some circumstances on some PCs. We have few (if any) reports of crashes with the latest production version (4.4.2).
