Pass. Only alternative is 2NT with is not attractive on a soft misfitting 9-count. Remember, vulnerable also means 100 per trick.

exactly. When youre going down 3 vul the imp odds change :P

Difficult but I think I'm going to bid 2

you're forcing to game on a misfitting 9 count? wow.

No, I'm going to pass 2nt. But I like a lot a 2 or 3 rebid by opener.

ok so the plan is to GF then pass a forcing bid...got it :0

2N. But I pass at MPs or nv/imps.

2C is a wide range and I don't want to pass when we could have 25 -27 between the hands.

Yes I realize that pard will carry on with a lot 14's.

Whereagles idea about the false preference of 2H is less crazy than it sounds.

I'm surprised somewhat that no one has commented on opener's bidding here.

There is some merit to opening the hand 1N instead of 1H when the rebid prospects are to rebid 2C with such a poor suit. Other rebids might be considered at least optional: 2H, emphasizing the suit and overall hand strength, and the second option is the distinct underbid of 1N, taking the low road approach.

Going well outside the box, I see another approach to these types of hands - exclusion rebids. On this hand, anyway, the auction 1H-1S-2D (exclusion) would allow the 2S contract to be reached. With only a doubleton as support, opener should not move toward game.

Other hands might be equally bid profitably this way: AJ10xx, Kxx, AQxx, x.

1S-1N-2C (exclusion)

When you are searching for a fit, you can only bid 1 but excluding 1 shows the other 2.

I know, I know. SERIOUSLY WEIRD. ;)

Pass unless 2C is forcing.

Yes, I was wondering, too, why P didn't open with 1NT albeit off-shape. Probably wind up in either 2S or 2NT.

How many true world class players open 1nt off shape with this hand...solid hearts and 5-4 in major, minor? Your comments sound as if 1nt is the obvious expert bid.
