inquiry
Hi, Are you sure it is from paypal. I only ask because I have used paypal a number of times for BBO purchases, and all I have ever gotten is confirmation that I added money to my account. That is, a single email for each transaction. Has anyone else seen spam like messages from paypal following BBO purchases? Or the only one email thing I mention?
uday
There has always been a large amt of spam trying to trick unsuspecting users into typing in their paypal username/password As with all such things: Never open a file, never click on a link and fill out a username/password, even if it appears to come from someone you know. It is all to easy to send you to some random site while appearing to send you to paypal or whatever. The only exception is if you are expecting a file from someone, the body of the message contains something that identifies the sender, and even then you should virus scan the file

ack_hh
As to my experience, PayPal does not spam, at least in in Europe. And I can not see any references to BBO in that mail -it's clearly related to eBay. Lastly, the e-mail HEADERwould be most interesting ...
barmar
If you ever get mail that claims to be from PayPal, eBay, or a bank, and it says you need to do something to confirm your account settings, it's a scam; this is called "phishing". The only legitimate, unsoliticited mail I ever get from PayPal is notifications when they've made policy changes. They send these out about once a month, and you can opt in or out of them in your PayPal preferences. I know that all the emails I get from eBay are bogus because I don't even have an eBay account! jimcloh
I get lots of email that looks like it is from PayPal, and I forward it to: spoof@paypal.com and they email me back that it was indeed not from them. I suppose if I ever get a real one, they would tell me that,....but I mignt not believe them.
luke warm
i'm glad to see this thread, i hadn't thought of this until now.. my wife and i are long time ebayers who have used paypal from the beginning... anytime money is involved, someone will try to take it away from you (work is too hard for some folks) warn everyone about this type of spoof... neither ebay nor paypal will ever ask you for your username/password in an email to you - ever... as suggested above, forward the entire email to spoof@paypal.com
