How can I post LIN files on a web page?

Hi

I hope someone can help me. I have a number of LIN files that I would like to post on a web page but I am struggling to know what HTML code I need to make the display a window on the receiving computer.

I am a complete newby when it comes to HTML and need to know what file structure I need and where my original file resides on the web server.

I hope this makes some sense to some helpful HTML expert out there

This can be done, so that the lin file is shown in the browser. This requires you insert some applet code for displaying the file. I suggest you check the "final deal of the week hand" and examine the code to see how it works. In theory, you can copy the source, remove unwanted stuff, rename the file to the one on your computer, and have a go at it.

This is a link to that last deal.. http://www.bridgeplaza.com/columns/index.html then click on the deal of the week link, then the "final deal of the week link".

This should be quite easy (I say this like I have done it, I have not). But why would you? Why would you want to inflict browser-based lin files on your visitors when you can put the lin file on your webpage and just have them click to open in NEtbridgevu like we do from Myhands? That is MUCH, MUCH better approach. (BTW, you can still find a lot of the Deal of weeks with the Bridge Library on BBO.. and I assure it, they are much better to review from there within NetbridgeVu than they ever were online with a browser).

Alternatively, Richard Pavlicek's website www.rpbridge.net has a file format converter so you can change .lin to his file format .rbn and then he has a .rbn to .html display utility. This produces quite nice looking hands (see his "sample after conversion").

I doubt what he meant was to simply show a text version of the hand. If it was, that solution works (with a small gotcha). Another solution that works is to use Cascade's Linconverter, create a display you want (full hand, NS, WS, etc), start posting here to this forum, insert the hand from linconverter, press "preview", then go to the VIEW SOURCE, and copy the table created... paste that table into your web document, then cancel the post you started making. Doubt either is all that much easier than the other. But with Cascade's program you can easily make any player south.
