Kaapo Posted August 21, 2005 Report Share Posted August 21, 2005 Does the window displaying a user's profile pop up slower in the new version? Moreover, the profiles won't show at all sometimes! This happened to me twice today. No matter where I moved the mouse pointer, all that was displayed was info about where the user was playing or kibbizing, but not the actual profile, not even my own. Going to edit my profile and clicking cancel solved this the first time. I don't know what solved it the latter time. Also, sometimes moving mouse over usernames has no effect at all. This resolves itself in a few seconds. Maybe BBO halts for a second or two for some reson? This already happened in earlier versions, but not displaying profiles is a new phenomenon. fred Posted August 21, 2005 Report Share Posted August 21, 2005 I put in a delay so that moving your mouse over a name in the lobby, chat area, or list of kibitzers results in a slight delay (1/5 of a second) before the profile (and the little yellow window the describes where the person is) appears. I did this because people sometimes complain that BBO is too "noisy" when you move your mouse around. At the same time I attempted to clean up the code that is responsible for this functionality when you move your mouse over a list of table or over a seat when you are at a table. So the delay is supposed to be there, but the profile is supposed to appear after the delay expires. If you could tell me what you were moving your mouse over and what part of BBO you win in when you saw no profiles, that would be helpful. If you hate the delay (or would like to see a longer delay) there are settings in your profile .ini file that control this behavior. Kaapo Posted August 22, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 22, 2005 It's not the bubbles directly, it seems. Rather, it's the moving of the mouse pointer. It happens when I'm playing or kibbizing and I have Lobby in view above chat area. If I move the pointer from the top right and over the player sitting south (so fast that his profile isn't shown) all the way to where the people in Lobby are listed, then none of the profiles in the list will be shown. I can still see the profiles for the players at the table, if I move the pointer over a "chair". After this, I can see all profiles, so this fixes it. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com I have noticed this in the Lobby,when I move thepointer over names sometimes the profile and theyellow "where they are" doesn't come up for quitesome time.I have to hold the pointer over one name maybe 5 seconds before response,then everything is finefor awhile then happens again. julie5607 Posted August 24, 2005 Report Share Posted August 24, 2005 Fred, I don't know if this is related but I have had problems a few times with seeing who is kibbing a table by resting the mouse pointer on the "target" in the upper left. It's only happened in tourneys, and at first I thought that i was imagining it. However, I tested it a bit one time and there was no way to get the pop-up of kibbers throughout two full hands. I finally left the table and came back and on my return the pop-up showed up. I ddn't take a screen shot because, frankly, there was nothing to shoot. Was going to drop you a line but then it cleared itself up and so I forgot about it - however seeing this thread reminded me of that and so I thought I would post.
