It appears we will have to have our side 4 tricks ready to run when partner gets in with his presumed diamond stopper - presuming declarer really does have his bid and all the outstanding Aces. If partner can furnish the Qxx or Qxxx of hearts that isn't going to be enough. In clubs, he will need QJxx. Unlikely. However, he may hold a 5 card spade suit. What would he need? QJxxx would do it if the spades behave...There is also the chance that partner holds Q108xx with the 9x in dummy or the Q109xx spades or even Q109x and the J8x of hearts. As in this envisioned hand the J of spades will always be with the A in declarer's hand, I lead a low spade. If partner holds Q109x and the heart J8x, he will need to be on his toes and switch to the 8 of hearts after winning the first spade.

A strange hand where you are actually trying to set up the long suit in the weaker hand instead of vice versa.

I think with 3 diamonds RHO tried to seek little slam, I feel sie better on 3NT when I keep some points in secret. Is good chance our parnter has 3rd honor in diamonds so i will try lead in type "cutting" Q

Maybe is total defeat but i feel better when I do not leading under strong hand.

A very sage bridge pro castigated me once for not leading what the Maker Himself provided; "a decent 5 card suit and entries". No matter what RHO holds, lead to set up your suit and set the contract. ;)

But i not had on minds safe lead or making on my hands good suit-cards because I wanted to avoid additionally just this in bonus but first priority is cut him and destroy comunication. From only one hand his play will be much easly for me and i have big chance my aa honors can take trick.

Okie.. here is the full hand:

[hv=n=sxxxhxxdkjtxxxxca&w=skxxhktxxdqck8xxx&e=sqtxhqxxdaxxcjtxx&s=saj9xhaj9xdxxcq9x]399|300|[/hv]

At the table, I chose a small H lead after some thought... regretted it once dummy came down :D

In the postmortem, there were comments for an 'obvious' club lead.. judging from this poll.. i think they are right, club lead should stand out.. hehe

Give me AK in a case like this (except in dummy's suit) and I'll probably play one of them to have a look at dummy. I'd also play A from AQJx here, for the same reason. Keep the lead in my hand, get a look at dummy, get two chances, since declarer might have 9 or more cashing with the long suit in dummy.

In this case, though, gotta go with 4th best club.

When the opponents bid this irrationally I always get confused - how did South expect to find 9 tricks opposite: xx, xx, KQJxxxx, xx?

I will defend to the death my right to made a well-judged lead against a silly contract - if I try to guess which opps are nuts and which are sane I'll end up going nuts in the process.

im curious why is a heart best and its not even close? I would lead a club trying for 5 clubs or 4 clubs and a trick. With a heart even if you run the suit or even if they only have one stopper you may just get 3 hearts and a trick or 4 hearts. I think statements like "its not even close" might at least be backed up by some reasoning.

***** happens...

In this case, the opponents got lucky

Next time you'll lead a club and find that you needed to kill a heart entry
