uday
Forums are not the vehicle for this sort of stuff. If abuse@ fails you, there are no options left. Attempting to continue the issue here is not a good idea. If you need to vent publicly in an unmoderated forum use rec.games.bridge.
inquiry
Your post may come as a surprize to some of our members. But not the one you think, but rahter for our other members. yes, people who are given the Privilege to run tourneys can lose that privilege. Can they lose that privilege for giving a bad ruling? The general answer is no. Playing directors who make crazy rulings in their own favor, will be barred from the directing and maybe banned from the BBO. and those who constantly make rulings so bizarre and against the rules of bridge will at least be talked too by someone. Can they lose that privilege for removing a player or blocking a player (gold star or not, yellow host or not)? No. TD's get to choose who can and can not play in their tourneys. Mark it as "no enemies" or "friends only" or "private club only". BBO does not get involved in those issues. So how can they lose that privilege? There are a couple of easy ways. 1.) They can schedule tourneys and not show up for them.2.) They can run repeated "playing director tourneys" and not substitute players so tthe tourney gets all fowled up.3.) They can be rude and/or vulgar to other members of the BBO (either in their tourney or not). If we have to ban someone for misbehavior there is an excellent chance they will lose their TD-rights. 4.) They can act like little dictators, booting lots of people without cause. Typically this is directors who will boot a player for calling for a director. IF you want to direct, well, you should EXPECT to be called. One or two cases of this is not enough but do it too often to too many people and it can cause problems. There are probably more, as only a few yellows have oversight of directors, and I am not one of them. As for the case you mention, this is not the story of why he/she lost TD rights. The star player may have told the TD he would no longer be a director, but that part is a coincidence at best. Because star players do not make such decisions, nor is removal of a single player (for any reason) grounds of removing TD rights. However, a star player can, like ANY OTHER PLAYER, report the director to abuse. Each such report is investigated and a report filed open to all yellows to review. The director had his TD privileges removed after the star player reported this incident, but the reason for removal wasn't the report by the star player, but by what was uncovered in the investigation. I have reviewed the facts surrounding abuse's decision to remove the players TD privileges, and I totally agree. The player can read the conditions above and figure out why his/her rights were removed too, if he/she cares to look. Sorry I am not at liberty to discuss the exact reason the TD rights were removed. However, the record is available for any yellow to review if they so care. So find a yellow you trust and ask if after reviewing the case they would agree or disagree with the decision. I am fairly certain they will agree, and at the very least, they will assure you it was not because a gold star influenced the decision.
