Double !
i dont know if its legal or not, but i have done it before usually misleading partner and having to bid and bid my suit till the cows come home ;) Then it's not a controlled psyche because in the Gardiner structure responder is supposed to bid 2C to find out whether or not the NT bid was comic. Double !
Perhaps referring to it as a controlled psyche (as opposed to a 2-way bid with destructive features) is the wrong term. The point is, it can have 2 totally different meanings and can be disruptive to the opps before it's found out when responder to the 1NT bidder checks back with 2Clubs. mikestar
Gardener's 1NT is also known as the "Comic 1NT". It's comic if you get away with it I suppose, and it's tragic if it costs 1100! :) Roland I thought that Comic NT was the name for the variant where it is always the weak one-suiter with no strong possiblility.
