You have 7 tricks. If partner can boost you to 10 tricks then partner will most likely raise 3H to 4H.

4♥ is an overbid, but not the worst I have seen in my career. 3♥ shows a good hand (you are vulnerable), and if partner can't bid, you are unlikely to have missed a game.

 

He needs to cover three of your losers. If he can, he won't pass.

I agree, 4H is a bit much in direct seat,

but in pass out it would have been ok.

 

But I have also seen, greater crimes.

 

Give Partner the spade King, take away

the club King and now you have 10 tricks,

but partner would not have raised to

game.
