badderzboy
This was the inaugural hand played at the BBO get-together in Milton Keynes Wkd 8/8, what do u do with it??? [hv=d=s&v=e&s=sh5dqj10976432ca54]133|100|Scoring: IMP[/hv] What would be your rebidding plan with the hand? If you did not hold the A Clubs would it affect your decision and opening bid? P_Marlowe
5D, planning to bid 6D, if 5H / 5S comes around, which at worst will go for 800. Without the Ace, I still open 5D, but would pass through out after that. With kind regardsMarlowe
the hog
5D at all vulnerabilitesNo, even without CA, I would open 5D at = vul and 4D vul vs not. Naturally in no case would I consider bidding 6 after having opened 4.
Free
5♦, keep it simple
joker_gib
When will I ever open a hand with 5♦ if I don't do it with that one !? ;) Alain
Fluffy
5♦ as others, probably because I don't have the 4♦ opening avaible as nat. If I didn't had ♣A I might open just 3, or pass, not sure.
han
Would open 5D at any vulnerability, with or without the ace.
TheoKole
5 ♦ If the opps bid 5 ♠ or 5 ♥ I will probably sacrifice at 6 ♦ unless partner doubles them. Cheers
mike777
Pass but opening 1D is very close and is my second choice. I have defense against 6H. Without the ace of clubs=5D opening.
luis
I think I would open 5♦ and I would consider bidding 6 in my next round.Of course this kind of polls are not very useful since with freak hands anything may work great or badly. Fluffy
consensous for a 5 level opening? never though this would be possible :)
Double !
An attack of insanity just hit. Many people open 3NT to show a pre-emptive to 4 of a minor (for the purpose, usually, of namyats). When was the last time you held a minor suit freak worthy of a 4NT opener (or whatever meaning you ascribe to the bid)? Idea: What about making a 4NT opener show a 5-level pre-empt in Cs or Ds without good honor structure like the sample hand (5C= pass or correct), and 5 of minor show the suit with good honor structure? This might help responder judge whether or not to bid further on a hand with good controls but minimal trump support. OK, just took my meds. Am feeling much better now, thank you.
