badderzboy
I played this hand last night sitting South playing ACOL with few gadgets, how should it be bid to the Hear Slam? N S AKQ852H AQJ9D A10C J SS 4H K10642D 7C 1076432 The hand was opened 2C - with 7 losers is 2D Negative the right response? - Ptr then bid 2S, I responded 3C (should ptr then bid 3H and I bid 4NT (Blackwood?)) then ptr jumped to game in 4S making 11 as E had J1093 of Spades... Thanks for the advice, Steve
the hog
We would bid 2C 2H2S 3H4N and find 6where 2H is a negative. I would bid 3H rather than 3C - I am probably only going to get to show one suit, so I would rather show my H suit that the topless clubs. Thanks for the advice, Steve You're bidding seems fine. But partner should have bid 3H. There was no reason for him to jump to game when you are already in a game-forcing auction. I wouldn't have then bid 4NT on your hand because there is a chance that partner has 2 small clubs. I like 2C 2D2S 3C3H 5H6H 5H shows excellent support in the context of a negative response, so partner can see a good chance for 12 tricks. Codo
Hi, 1. I don`t like 2 Diamond as neg. but if you play it as 0-7 HCPs, it is the right response. The jump to 4 Spade from pd was silly. He has much place to look for different suits. So:2 C-2D2 S 3 C3 H this far, it is clear cut. I have NO idea, what will be the best next move. 4 NT is "always" wrong, because the strong had shuld ask. And it is particular wrong because pd may have xx in club. 4 Heart may not drive pd to slam.5 Heart normaly asks for something in diamond. But this is not real your problem. You are afraid of xx in Club.If you follow Rons device and introduce the hearts first, Slam bidding is easy. But if you reverse the heart and Club holding in PDs hand, you have some problems to reach 6Club in a convieniend way. So, to come back to the start: Maybe you should bid 2 Heart after 2 Club. This is no risk, if pd has a strong NT hand and it is no risk, if pd has a fit to one of your suits. But 2 Heart will fail, if pd has a strong one suiter and blast to slam, because he believes in 8 HCPs in your hand. Maybe tis is the smallest problem. Kind Regards Roland
inquiry
S AKQ852H AQJ9D A10C J SS 4H K10642D 7C 1076432 2C 2D (2D = at least one trick for a major suit contract)2S 2N (2N = warning, auction can stop in 3S)3H 5D (3H = real suit, forcing)6H Pass Explaination. I respond 2H or 2S to 2C as supernegative showing NO possible trick for a major suit contract. Since the heart king is a possilbe trick for even a spade contract, the negative response is not available. 2S forces to 3S, and I use 2NT as warning... that says I likely have one trick only for a spade contract. If i had exactly two likley tricks for a spade contract, I would jump to 4S over 2S. Anything ELSE than 2NT would be game force. 3H is forcing as 2S force to 3S. Over 3H, South's hand has turned to gold. Now the hand which has already sent a dire warning that it contains at most one trick for spade contract, now has all kinds of possible tricks for a heart contract. The only way to show the upgrade after the forcing 3H response is with a splinter to 5Ds. North knows that south can't have the heart king and the club ace, as that hand would not have bid 2NT. So 6H's is the limit. As I have said before, "my" 2CLUB structure is taken direclty from Dr. Chris Ryall's "bridge page". It is worth a look if you have never seen it.
