What do you bid?

Let me throw my hat into the ring with a different bid...

If not vul or at matchpoints.... 1NT (forcing)... If partner rebids 2SPADES over this, I will pass. BTW, my partners only rebid 2 SPADE with a minimum hand and 6 SPADES. With 6 SPADES and anything extra, they rebid a minor. Or over 2S, if I was feeling lucky, I might try 2NT/3C. This is a tough hand. By stopping in 2NT/3C/or 2S one thing is for sure... I will not miss a vulnerable game (see below...because I will not be vulnerable)

.

At imps, vulnerable, however, I will bid 2CLUBS. Since I don't want to risk missing a close game under those conditions. At all other events and vul, 1NT. BTW, 3CLUBS as invitiational is not an option for me, as I don't like the use of 3C for that bid. As for 2NT with this hand? No way. First, most 2/1 people use that to show support. And if you don't, (for instance if you are playing BBO Advanced), 2NT shows a balanced hand. Only in wonderland can this hand be called balanced.

Funny math... so far I see people advocating for something other than 2NT or 3C (consensus... 2C, although I would bid this hand 1NT most of the time, see my earlier reply). Despite this, the vote now stands at 2 for 2NT (YUCK) and 2 for "something other". Seems it should 3 for something other... :-)

And the two votes for 2NT amaze me as a 2/1 reply with this hand. Really, 2NT???

I assumed that the first option was really for 2C. On my screen it shows as an "n" with a tilde (~) on top. It seemed more likely that that was a mistype for 2C, than for 2NT (since 2NT makes no sense on the hand).

If I am wrong, I would like to change my vote!

Someone hand me a 2C bidding card....bidding 2NT is absolutely out of the question here. 2/1 is a shape showing system so show it!

Since my partner has opened 1S here, I treat my Q as being doubleton, thus the response.
