bug in 4.3.5?

Hi anyone out there who can help out :blink:

I was playing in a tourney tonight, when suddenly the rectangular boxes (NSEW) where the players' nicks are, turned pitch black! The only time the name would appear, is when the player who'se turn it is to bid or play a card. I rebooted, logged in and out BBO a couple of times, but the problem is still persisting...

If i hover browser over name, it appears....

As I am writing this post, I am also watching vugraph, and the problem seems to be the same, except that the partnership who'se turn it is to bid can be seen... (so 2 boxes at a time)

The left hand top corner at vugraph table , shows the name of one team, the box below is also black...

I hope this is temporary, I just thought i should report it, in case someone else has the same problems..

Ok its fixed now!!! I uninstalled, and reinstalled it completely... all is fine now :)

Not a bug after all i guess :blink:

P.S. I would like to add that a very dear friend, who would like to remain anonymous (she knows who she is) gave me that suggestion... thank you :P

Aarghh! What have I done?

 

As above, before Gerardo post, did the following:

 

1) uninstalled by clicking on the dedicated uninstallation option within the Bridge Base Online submenu from Start/Programs/....

The uninstallation program appeared to work ok.

2) Reinstalled from the setup file.

3) Overrode the default folder during installation

from

c:\Bridge Base Online

to

c:\Program files\Bridge Base Online

Was mildly surprised to find the folder (and various subfolders) already existed, in light of previous uninstallation, but not totally surprised as it is a common phenonemon (ie uninstallation normally will not delete saved log files).

At least it appeared to confirm that I have selected the same folder for installation as the original installation (a point that I had neglected to note prior to first uninstal)

4) ran BBO - fine

Discovered that I had to reconfigure my personal preferences, ie country views etc. No surprise there.

5) Exited BBO

6) Reopened BBO and logged in.

7) SURPRISE: my personal preferences had been lost again.

8) Thought I had better have another go at reinstal. Tried step 1 again as above. This time when I clicked on uninstal I got the wavey torch "searching for uninstal program" - not found. So I went to control panel "add and remove programs" and clicked on Bridge Base Online from the listed installed programs. Unable to uninstal from that also. OS seemed to think it had already been uninstalled, and prompted me to delete it from the list of installed programs. So I did that, and then deleted the folder

c:\Program files\Bridge Base Online

including all its contents and subfolders.

9) Reinstalled BBO from setup AGAIN.

10) Same problem manifests (unable to save personal preferences), although this time the uninstal program will run if I choose (I tried it but clicked on Cancel before it did anything this time).

 

SO!

How do I do a "clean" uninstal? Does the installation bugger about with the Windows Registry settings? How else do I get it to remember my personal settings from one login to the next?

Yes, i had the "flash" option enabled, do you think that is the problem? I also went thru the longer process to fix that... Gerardo's message came much later...

I am not sure the "flash" option was available with the 4.2.5 version, which is what 1eyedJack mentioned he was still using.....

For me uninstalling and reinstalling seems to have solved a terrible connection/freezing/lagging problem i have been having (for the time being at least) keeping my fingers crossed...

hi

i also had strange behaviour with 4.3.5 today .. dont know if related to connection issue.. had just completed tourney 896 and clicked on results .. just as the next tourney i was entered in started.. i was taken to the tourney but NOT to the table where my name was shown, and could not join table. I logged off and re-connected ..was now taken to 'my' table, but could not see or make any bids.

 

Have had a lot of 'connection' issues recently even tho on cable connection.

XP Pro, latest service patches instaled.
