uday
Fred sells GIB through Bridge Base Inc (the company that makes Bridge Master). Bridge Base Online has little to do with GIB.

Thx Uday for fast reply, but..I do understand that but my question is about GIB and what is going on with its development.
scoob
your best bet is to email matt directly - i believe the email links on the gib website are still current.
Stephen Tu
Read this old message from Matt Ginsberg. I gather it is a combination of "too busy with day job", and waiting for computers to get fast enough to try some new strategies. Also he had a beef with the person who has been running the computer competition over various issues, which is why it didn't compete for several years even before development stopped. CarlRitner
Matt announced some time ago that he was going to work on a US government contract and would be unavailable to continue with GIB for a while. I can't seem to find that topic but the link below references it. http://groups-beta.google.com/group/rec.ga...f63a00ac82bc5e7 Outside of that, the man has been scarce. _vlado
The above was enough to clarify what is going with GIB.Besides, it makes clear that BBO (Fred/Uday...) has no relation to inner workings of GIB. Do not expect from them to do a thing if GIB jumps to 6 and 7 level without control asking ... (and I have reasons to believe that GIB-BBO will do this more often than your home pet GIB). Now perhaps is the time to open a thread "GIB at BBO" in view of Fred's announcement about BBO 4.3.5 beta. An important interface feature that I did not find in BBO is asking for the meaning of my own bid (i.e. how GIB understands it). This is the right click on the bidding box in the original GIB. Playing with GIB as a partner without this feature makes little sence. Also, in the beta version, I could not ask for GIB's hint but may be this was just not activated. uday
as far as I know GIB is not under active development.
pigpenz
I asked Fred about this when GIB showed up on BBO couple of weeks ago, and he said right now there no sources($$$) allocated to its future development at this time. Their company sells it but Matt Ginsberg is the deloper of it and has done nothing on it since maybe March 2003.
