whereagles
Yes. Perfect example of why we were given 2 arms and 1 mouth: to play more and speak less :)
pigpenz
woops made a mistake, went back and took a look, looks like the ACBL censored out Uday's name from the placing  just joking of course

Double !
Congrats UDAYSuper-excellent job. If people check the results of the 2004 NABC LM Pairs held in NYC, they will also find that Uday made it to the finals and finished in the overalls if not near the top. Obviously he is a very strong bridge player.DHL

We q'd, but finished 32nd on the next day. Two more days, and we get to go home for some much needed rest! I was caddying for four days in the tournament, and I must say: it should be a requirement that people caddy before they can become an LM, because caddies get treated SO badly, it's incredible. pigpenz
Yes caddies do get treated badly, I hoped someone tipped you for your efforts.
keylime
Caddies are highly underappreciated. Gotta be a much better way to show gratitude to those folks than to snarl at them most of the time.
Chamaco
Sorry, maybe this question is OT, but it's a language/slang problem: what/who is a caddy ?

Elianna:Like I said, to Q in the BAM, Adam had a good pard. Yes, being a caddy can expose you to all sorts of people. I support your recommendation of making caddying ( bringing supplies and boards to the tables, picking up score slips after each round: things like that) a prerequisite for earning LM status. Just have to make sure the caddy doesn't look at the score and ask the participants something like, "how did someone go down in .......?" Elianna
Yes caddies do get treated badly, I hoped someone tipped you for your efforts. Well, I did get paid to caddy. I think that the worst was trying to get boards from tables that had lots of kibbitzers. Some kib was always holding the boards, and I had to search around for which it was, because they kept hiding them. Also, there was this lady who said that she had a hearing problem (that her hearing was too good) and yelled "ouch!" whenever she felt someone snapped a card (or even did a little more than lay it down lightly on the table). Anyway, one of these yells came right when I was leaning over to get the scoreslip, and so it was right in my ear! Then there was a guy that didn't feel the need to fill out scoreslips. I don't know why the opponents allowed them to get away with it.
mycroft
Argh, another pet peeve. If I could have one thing from (ACBL) players changed, it would be "CADDY!" (or worse yet, "BOARDS"). At least we TDs are old enough to be able to handle players who tell their (grand-)children "what do we say here?" and actually do "DIE-REC-TOR!", but caddies are frequently 11 and 12. And how much effort is it to put your pair#, your opponents pair#, the board numbers, contract and score on each slip, and leave it *in the same place* every round? Congratulations to all in Atlanta!Michael.
Fluffy
Sorry, maybe this question is OT, but it's a language/slang problem: what/who is a caddy ? Its the people in the stuff that helps things getting done, moving tables, supling bidding boxes when needed, guarding and giving boards... and whatever elses the organization thinks about :).
