Echognome
[hv=d=e&v=b&s=sqj2hk85d1052cj1043]133|100|Scoring: IMP(P) - P - (1♣) - X(1♥) - P - (2♥) - 2♠(P) - ?[/hv] Opponents have both been bidding throughout. How strong do you believe partner is? What is your call? If partner had bid 1♠ first and doubled at his second turn, what would you expect his hand to be then? Walddk
18+ hcp (17 very good) with 5+ spades. 3NT is my next bid. 1♠ overcall first and double next will show 5 spades and short hearts, 15-16 hcp. Roland

Echognome
By the way, I mention this hand for BILers as I was playing with a BILer that held this hand and passed. Thought it might be a good reminder that the standard treatment of double and then freely bid a new suit shows a very good hand. The bid then double also shows a good hand, but not quite as good. As a side note: How it would also be good to clarify what double then 3♠ and 4♠ are.
