problems with BBO forums

Recommended Posts

when a message doesn't go through are you getting any type of error?

if so, is it something the forums are generating for you, or something your browser is giving you (perhaps a popup)?

the only times i have ever had trouble posting to a web forum is when the connection between myself and the server is so delayed that my session times out - but that's never happened to me here.

I just tried to post a long message, but it failed ;)

might I suggest a simple workarround

compose your posts in a word processor and then paste then into the webpage.

This will allow you to save any work that might otherwise be lost.

Some recent version of internet explorer.

Anyway, I just tried to post something long from my puter at work and it worked ok. Oh well... lol.

  • Update your IE to latest version - completely free to do so
  • Delete all of your temporary internet files
  • Be sure your settings are updating every time you access an internet site
  • Reduce the number of days storing your temporary internet sites - I have 3 days

This is the way to solve problems with Gmail account and cannot harm you but will do nothing or something good for you. Worth a try I think.

Thx. I tried some of that already, I think. I'll try it all again, though somehow I feel the problem lies elsewhere.

And no, I'm not swtiching to netscape... eheh. I don't like the philosophy of solving a problem by downloading a 200 Mb "patch" B)

Then I would suggest a 5MB patch :-) - switch to Firefox :-))).

I don't know how many IE-functions are missing in Firefox (never used IE extensively) but I know that there are a lot of functions that Firefox has and IE has not, most of the functions that both have are implemented more securely in FF and there is a ton of extensions available that you can get. (Plus, there is much more user control over what the browser does, and much cleaner configuration...)

I don't know what else could be causing the problems.
