Blofeld
On some hands GIB seems to refuse to play altogether. Have had this happen with 2 and 3 humans at the table, and the first time it is called to play or at a later point. We got out of it only by redealing. fred
GIB refuses to bid on after an undo (teaching table in the Main Bridge Club). Roland Thanks for the report. I think I have fixed this (but the fix will not appear until 4.3.4 is released). Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com

Do you remember what form of scoring was being used at the table? Do you remember if there were any undos involved? Any other details you think might be helpful? Has anyone else seen this? fred
Oh yeah, we need a BBO-GiB CC please. That'll help a lot. :-) There will be one when we make the official release of the GIB-enabled BBO. If GIB is playing in the Main Bridge Club you can click on its bids for an explanation. DenisO
I already own GIB - when you start charging for GIB use in BBO, would I have to pay again? Denis
fred
Apparently there was a pretty serious bug in 4.3.3 that made it possible for a GIB table to "freeze" (ie it would be GIB's turn to bid/play and nothing would happen) under some circumstances. I think I have fixed this now and I have created a 4.3.4 that contains this fix. The links to upgrade to 4.3.4 can be found at the end of this post: Click here for 4.3.4 post! No need to read that post if you have read the 4.3.3 post already. The contents are the same, but the links at the end (and the files you will download) are different. Thanks to all the enthusiastic testers and bug-reporters out there. Please keep up the good work. I really would like to get a stable version out there before I leave for Atlanta on Tuesday. Hopefully 4.3.4 is a step in the right direction... Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com
fred
I already own GIB - when you start charging for GIB use in BBO, would I have to pay again? Denis The right to use GIB on BBO will most likely be something that BBO members can purchase as a subscription (ie it will last for a certain period of time and then you will have to renew if you want to continue to use GIB on BBO). We have not decided the price of a subscription for various time periods. We have not decided what (if anything) to do for existing GIB customers. Perhaps they will get a free subscription for a while if they can provide proof of purchase. Perhaps only those who paid for GIB updates will get this. Perhaps existing GIB customers will get nothing at all. These are difficult issues. Of course we would like to be fair to everyone (including ourselves and Matt Ginsberg who had to do a lot of work beyond that which was done for the original GIB program to get GIB to work on BBO - most likely this work will be an ongoing thing). I would certainly welcome opinions about how best to deal with this (though I cannot promise that our policies will necessarily reflect these opinions). keylime
Fred, Min HCP 25South as dealerSouth deal open shape hands of 16+ HCPsConstained toggle. Rest were open. mrdct
GIB doesn't alert its conventional bids. I know you can click on a GIB bid and get an explanation, but it's not the same and not compliant with the laws of bridge.

Sorry if I am being dumb and missing something obvious. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com PS I had not thought about renting GIB use by the hour. I thought daily/weekly/monthly/yearly would be how we would do it. The rates I was thinking of were a lot less than those that you are willing to pay! Until we manage to integrate GIB's convention card facility into BBO I am afraid there is not much I can do about this. pigpenz
New version doesnt allow chat with opponents during play it only seems to operate at end of round, I couldnt get anyone to explain a bid so had to call a TD it appears that it is running like that chat with partner function, so it will only activate when the final hand of the round is done

fred
4.3.3 Gib bbo bug, dont know if it can be activated, but cant claim have to finish out the hand when using GIB as opponents and partner This is intentional. If you are at a duplicate table then at least one human must be part of the opposing partnership for claims to be activated. At other tables you can claim and GIB will always accept. GIB actually contains functionality for deciding whether or not to accept a claim, but I had trouble getting this to work with BBO and wanted to get a beta release out before the ACBL Nationals starts. Most likely I will try again to get this working in early August. Strongly suggest you upgrade to 4.3.4 by the way. I managed to break that (sorry). It will be fixed in the next version). The Chat->Opps button only half works. A chat message initiated with that button will go toyour LHO only. As far as I can tell that is the only chat-related problem introduced in 4.3.3. Let me know if you are sure I am wrong about this. Fred GitelmanBridge Base Inc.www.bridgebase.com sorry my error ran into this at the 3pm acbl pairs game when trying to get information on a bid, and the chat to either opponent would not work, it didnt show up in the blue letters in the channel....at the end of the round it did....and it was version x.3.4. not x.3.
keylime
K with the specific constraints: 16-37 hcps, with NO specific suit lengths. Just a wall of zeros. Also, the checkmark for use. Constrained hands, GiBs in W-E, min. 25 hcps, South as permanent dealer. Now when I finish the bidding, all four hands revealed, and it tables a lead. When I redeal, it just pauses bad. fred
Oh yeah, forgot to mention: I got this BBO Update program icon in my programs list...pointing to a bridge.exe.... Ooops. Thanks for noticing this Dwayne. You can delete that shortcut. I have now uploaded a new setup and update program that will not create these shortcuts. I fixed a couple of other bugs too (including the chat->RHO bug) so some of you might want to download again. The version number is still 4.3.4.
