keylime
Hi gang. I'm looking for a few folks to learn together WJ2005. I really like the growth of this from 2000. Any takers?

keylime
I also wanted to mention that if you need WJ2005's notes, either message me so I can email it, or I'll steer you to D. Neill's site.
hrothgar
If you're going to learn Polish Club, bite the bullet and use the version presented by Matula. His book is very well written and easy to follow. I haven't looked at WJ2005 in detail, however, there were some things that I didn't like. In particular, the I think that Matula's relay structure is a substantial improvement over WJ2005's Bubrotka/Odwyrtka structure.
keylime
I've read once now briefly the WJ2005 doc. Likes: 2D being mini-multi, 1430, Exclusion in. Wilkosz out. A clear definition of the 1♦ opening. 1♣-2NT being much more defined. Dislikes: 2NT being a pure limit over 1M (STRONGLY prefer Stenberg with mini-splinters and fit jumps). The 2/1 response being forcing just one round (i.e. GF unless suit rebid). Some of the relays over 1C-1M. Overall, it's an improvement. Will reread again to see if I missed 500 things or not. Gerben42
Hi Dwayne, If you like we can play WJ2005 together. The 1M - 2NT bit is also one of my dislikes. The standard way in Poland with GF hands with fit is to bid 2♣. But in effect it is possible to play any structure you like after 1M like the standard SAYC or 2/1 one. Best regards, Gerben

the hog
Agree with Richard. I looked at WJ2005 and its ok, but the absence of a good effective Odwrotka structure is a big drawback. be aware that the WJ series is effectively the Polish SAYC - designed for the run of the mill player. Matula's version is far better.
keylime
I reread the relays. I'm going to probably use Matula's just because of it comes across as more logical than WJ2005 for some strange reason.
Flame
I played 2000 and 2005, they have nice books, but those books are more suitable for intermiddiate players, you dont have too many sequences in them, and like many books prefer to hide the more problematic ones, and show the obvious.Never played motula but i think richard and ron might be right (althogh motula's book is old and there might be better things today)
Blofeld
I quite want to learn WJ2005, but I've never played any form of Polish club before.
keylime
I've converted the .doc into .pdf - holler if you'd like that.
