world juniors vugraph records

Recommended Posts

I've got the Vugraphs of Rd1 (England v Italy) and Rd3 (England v Taipei).Ii'll be happy to email them to you but it would make much more sense if BBO could provide a method where members could post files for others to download. I raised this previously where I suggested an archive of Vugraphs; I recall that Fred has it on the list but timescale is sometime in the future.

An interim solution could be to post files to the Yahoo Groups BBO community that Alan Purnell runs - feedback on this idea would be appreciated

I agree with Erkson, but there is already a solution

that I would like to let you know.

Yvan Calame of the Swiss Bridge Federation has

made a page where one can download the

vugraph records of the Youth Champs:

http://fsbridge.nexenservices.com/2003/wytc/index.html

He is even offering .lin, txt and html formats.

But there is nothing about Round 1, plus some boards

from R3 are missing.

A solution might be to send the Round 1 records to

him.

For what it is worth I join my voice.

I, too, would very much appreciate the possibility to download directly from BBO the .lin files of the vugraphs that I missed.

This topic comes up from time to time. One thread asking for vugraph archieve is....

http://forums.bridgebase.com/in...ay;threadid=612

In a response in that thread, Fred said "...we still have not quite

got the process right of recording the data from

live vugraph matches. A new version will be coming

out soon and hopefully the vugraph logging function

will work properly in this version." I take this to mean that at some point in time, the shown vugraphs will be saved for later viewing. Hopefully, the "coming out soon" will be soon...but it is clear that the BBO staff realizes the desire for this feature.

Hi, Ben.

My feeling is that this new thread brings new ideas and new information.

I am very glad to find information that I needed.

For instance, I prefer to find public links to .lin files than having to get those files via private mailing.

More generally the more information is public, the better for me.

Hi Erkson

My comments were meant for those reading the thread and who, like all of us, wish the vugraph hands were available stored on line at the BBO. So while I quoted your comment for reference, I was trying to point out that Fred is working on fixing this "problem" in the future. After all, many, many of the members here (not to mention guest) haven't been around long enough to likely have seen the earlier thread. :)

Since I have been around, and i have read all the thread here except the foreign language ones (and would read those if I could), I thought I would share the older information.

All OK, Ben.

Since Fred's message on June 18th, the software has been improved and last version saves better vugraph files on spectators' hard disks. I notice that a problem remains with second room last boards, which under certain conditions are not saved, and we wait, of course patiently, for ultime improvements.

The question set by this new thread is how to get the (even not perfect) files when one could not watch the match.

And now I return to 2003 Youth Bridge Championship vugraph ! A good gift !

Erkson.

Have a look at this web page:

http://fsbridge.nexenservices.com/2003/wytc/index.html

This was created by Yvan Calame of the Swiss Bridge

Federation. Yvan has been doing this sort of thing

for years and he is very interested in receiving as many

vugraph .lin files as possible so that he can continue to

make such presentations. I send him copies of all of the

files that I am able to get.

I would definitely prefer people to depend on Yvan

(and perhaps others) to maintain a "repository of

.lin files for download". I have enough on my plate

already. Furthermore, making web pages and being

organized are not really among my strengths :)

If you want to make sure that the .lin files from vugraph

contain all the bidding/play records from both tables,

just make sure you are at the last table of the match

when it finishes play.

I understand that.

I thought it was possible and easy to store the files in myhands.

I guessed that, and I thank you for confirming it.

Possible for sure and it may be easy to implemented, but

this is not something we are planning on doing in the

immediate future. Likely we will eventually automat this

process, but I don't know when we will get a chance.

There are a lot of things that Uday and I want to do to

improve BBO and only so many hours in each day :)
