After that, all calls were questionable to say the least. West leads a small spade, won by East's king.East returns the queen of spade, covered by you, and ruffed by West.West plays a low diamond. Plan the play (you may assume that you can still make it, i.e. that west started with 2 hearts and east with 1). As usual, more advanced players please hide your answer. If not, then I win diamond ACE and ruff diamond before playing heart ACE (playing ACE first is safer). Play WEST for 1-2-5-5, so win diamond ACE, cash heart ace picking up pieces, low heart to dummy's x, ruff a diamond. Run hearts... coming to... S = voidH = voidD = TC = AJ S = xH = xD = voidC= x West has to keep Diamond JACK (or king), so can have keep only one club when I lead the last heart. EAST has to keep a spade to stop my "x", so can only keep one club. After WEST throws his next to last club, throw diamond Ten and claim. TheoKole Posted July 12, 2005 Report Share Posted July 12, 2005 Here is my play which I have to assume is possible from the bidding and play, Take the Ace of Diamonds and ruff a diamond high, play Ace of hearts (hopefully drawing the remaining trumps) and play a low trump to dummy (I assume this is possible and that dummy didn't start with two trumps lower than all of yours), ruff a diamond to isolate the diamond menace to west. Now run all the hearts for the double squeeze (watching for the high diamonds from west and count of the spades from east). On the last trump you should have 10♦, A J ♣ in dummy and x♠ x♥ x♣ for yourself. Draw trumps and reduce cards as follows:[hv=n=shd10caj&w=shdjcxx&e=sxhdcxx&s=sxhxdcx]399|300|[/hv] When South plays the last trump, West had to pitch a club to guide dummy's D10.
