One hand type is not covered--there is no bid for a hand with a four card major, longer minor and GF but not slammish, at least as written in the summary. This needn't be a fatal flaw. Flame Posted July 6, 2005 Report Share Posted July 6, 2005 I think its a good system and i am working on convincing my partner to play it.About the 5+4+ majors, i find an important use for the undefined 3c.1nt-2d2h-2s2nt- 3c show 5-5 and ivite ask partner to bid 3M with 3 cards,3d with both 3 cards. This way we can find the 5-3 major fit below game and not have to play in 5-2 when we have 5-3 fit like could be after 1nt-2d2h-2s2nt-3d3h- p This also mean we can make the 2nt abit more flexiable and the other bids more stricked meaning 3c is real max (bid 2nt if you have doubts), this helps when opener doesnt know if he should sup accept with 3 card major. (over 3c he shouldnt over 3d/3h he should)I think the system does well enough to the 4-5 inv. the SI hands with 5+4+ might not have enough bids, maybe the undefined 3c can help here too.About the 4M5m i agree there is a problem here, as we might go above 3nt when not needed. As i see it a partnly solution is based on the idea that showing the 5m is done to either check for slam or play in 5m if opener is also more suitable for minor then NT, therefore if opener is suitable for minor we have no problem going over 3nt, but if opener just have good hand and go above 3nt there should be a way to stop in 4NT which should make most times(this is important mostly for mp).
