Fluffy
There were some 'duplication' in Tenerife, here is first example [hv=d=s&n=sa109xxxha109daxxxc&s=skqxxxhkxxdxca10xx]133|200|Scoring: IMP S - N1♠-2NT3♦-4♣4♥-7♠[/hv] Here the bidding shows why the Jacoby response should be used with at least 4 trumps: because you make the responder hand the base hand, reaching easilly 7 (althou I guess splinter might end up there also, but probably not as sure). [hv=d=s&n=sa109xxxha109daxxxc&s=skqxxxhkxxdxca10xx]133|200|Scoring: IMP S - N1♠-2NT3♦-4♣4♥-7♠[/hv] We had some missunderstanding on the bidding (* showed majors for one, and hearts for the other), but the contract wasn't that bad, after a ♦K lead I ruffed in dummy, cashed ♣A+♣K West discarding a ♦, after that I played to assure only 1 off, but I missed a line that would had made as the cards lied, can you see the winning line I missed?. Finch
Funnily enough, I remember another hand from Tenerife also in the same idiom: [hv=n=sa10xhaxxxdcakqxxx&s=skqxxxhkxdaxxxxcx]133|200|Scoring: MP[/hv] They bid to grand against us. Fluffy
Ooooops sorry, On the 6♣ contract West made the mistake of discarding a ♥, not a ♦. That meant that the standard line of trying to find West with a singleton ♥ honnor should be dismissed. Any other chance?
Fluffy
Ok, here the full hand if anyone ever though about solving the problem: [hv=n=saxxha109xdcaxxxxx&w=sq9xhxxdkqjxxxxcx&e=sj10xhqjxxdxxxcqjx&s=skxxxhkxxda10xckxx]399|300|[/hv] After a ♦ ruff ♣A+♣K I couldn't imagine ♦s 7-3 after the 1♦ overcall, but if I did, finding the endplay for 12 tricks should had been possible. whereagles
Dealer: South Vul: ???? Scoring: IMP ♠ A109xxx ♥ A109 ♦ Axxx ♣ [space] ♠ KQxxx ♥ Kxx ♦ x ♣ A10xx S - N1♠-2NT3♦-4♣4♥-7♠ Here the bidding shows why the Jacoby response should be used with at least 4 trumps: because you make the responder hand the base hand, reaching easilly 7. That's an upside-down reasoning, gonzalo. If North were opener, South would have bid 2NT as well and you'd hardly get to 7S now.
