1eyedjack
New players joining an existing table in the main area tend to request reset score. This request I think displays a lack of understanding of the significance of the running total score displayed while playing. I would not normally care about that ... let them misinterpret that displayed figure as much as they want, for all I care. BUT ... the effect of the reset is to bar me from viewing the history of earlier hands in the session. OK, I know I can go to the my_hands database later to view them, but that is at some inconvenience and, given the invalidity of conclusions interpreted from the running total score as displayed on screen, it seems a little bizarre that the player should suffer that inconvenience. My suggested solution, many moons ago, was that any player at the table should be able unilaterally to reset the score at the table AS DISPLAYED TO THAT PLAYER, but that such an action would not disturb the score as displayed to other players at the table and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, would not wipe out the other players' ability to view historical hands in that session dating back prior to the reset. If that is not possible, at least please cut the link between the score reset and the session history review. A similar irritating problem is that when I am viewing the history of a particular hand as a spectator, I get to about trick 9 in the play, and then the players deal a new hand and my view of the hand gets wiped out in favour of the history of the next (by now completed) hand, and I have to go back and start again (provided of course that there has been no score reset). I appreciate that development of the software has concentrated on tournaments in the last year or two, and I accept that that may be the higher priority for most. But perhaps other factors should eventually graduate to higher priority after an adequate delay? Thanks for patience.
