paulg
As this has yet to happen, I wondered what happens if the sole director (and host) for a team match gets disconnected? Does the team game exit;or does it wait for the director to return;or does the role get transfered to another (like a normal club table)? Thanks, Paul PS I do put two directors into every match anyhow, just someone asked :)

inquiry
In the early days, if you started an "untimed" team event and the director got booted, and then one of the players got disconnected...big problems occurred. The other players couldn't leave the table, and if they exited the program and returned they were sucked right back into the "dead" game (since no one could play). Now, Uday has made all team games timed events (with lots of time) so they are eventually self limiting. That was a big improvement. Of course, it is best to have a director arround to fix these type of problems.
uday
It is best if a team-game is created with 2 directors - one at each table. If a team game collapses because the directors are gone, it will *eventually* be shut down. The best thing to do is call for a yellow (BBO support volunteers usernames are listed in yellow ) if you are stuck in that situation; any yellow can close the game down. If the hosts of a pair event go fishing, the tourney continues. The problem is, of course, that substitutions cannot be made. So if the tourney is untimed (unclocked), this can cause problems. A yellow who notices this will shut the tourney down. If we determine that the tourney host has deliberately logged off, we usually remove the host's tourney-creation privs as well. Clocked tourneys will end eventually, so it is no biggie except for the pairs who suffer the occasional sitout. I am not sure this (unattended clocked events) is a bad thing. But for the moment, the official stance is that a tourney should not run unattended

Guest
Much appreciated anyway, Dwayne; at least you had the kindness and tho't to pass this particularly arcane piece of BBO info on to little me ;) kr, Allan
JRG
The information is in the online Help. It has been there for a while now. If you bring up the HELP for Create Tournament, it shows the dialog in one frame and a list of the items in a frame beside it. Clicking on an item displays the corresponding help information in a frame at the bottom of the window. So click on "Director" to see the help which gives the syntax. Post comments if additional "Index" entries are needed. They will probably be created at some stage. This might not help you, but might help the next person that is looking for the information. Cheers
