Using camera and micro

I have now participated in two tournaments purportedly with camera and micro and encountered a number of problems amongst which:

Despite having said yes to camera and micro access for BBO and sometimes on my screen seeing my image in the right place apparently no-one else could see it or hear me.

Response times both for playing a card or making a bid extremely slow during certain rounds.

Bidding box sometimes presented without a complete record of previous bids.

Please give guidance.

RealBridge has excellent (IMHO) support for camera and microphones. Maybe BBO can license their code although that would be too late to help you.

They have excellent support for tournament management and for post-play vision and analysis too (IMHO).

If they were interested in selling out I think they would have done so already.

If you don't have a good enough Internet connection, the bandwidth used for the video can slow down the bidding and play. We have an internal weekly tournament with video chat, and some of the players have to turn off their video so that the bidding and play is not delayed.

I guess it's reassuring to know that this is a known issue (or issues) but what are BBO going to do about it?

As a starter shouldn't video work fully for all players in your internal weekly tournament?

As things stand you imply that you expect this functionality to not perform correctly for a non-negligible number of your end-users.

That isn't a long-term tenable position.

My internet connection is good enough to permit watching films and tv (I do have the option to reduce quality which tends to be my workaround on the rare occasions I encounter buffering issues).

What do you suggest that I do to enable the video on BBO to work correctly?

The problem is at the user's end, their connection just isn't good enough for video.

The video and play are using totally different networks and servers at our end, so the network overload isn't at our end.

And the solution is what?

If you're so sure the problem is at the user end share the knowledge that you have to help the user fix it.

Publish detailed technical guidelines including minimum requirements.

How is everything synchronised?
