Gib prefernce bid

Recommended Posts

Hi, i am new here. Sorry, if this had been discussed earlier. In the auction, opps silent, 1s 1nt 2h 2s, the gib describes 2s preference as 8+ pts and not 6+. I wonder why? Thanks in advance.

When 2=3 in majors, you pass if you fear a further bid by opener. You give false preference if you do not fear a further bid.

Maybe that's what the description means.
