Bidding problem

I don't think there's any hand that bids 4 voluntarily on the second round but can't overcall 1 on the first round. Maybe it's intended as a diamond-spade fitbid, inviting you to take action over their 5 next round? Of course with a bot that's a silly notion.

I initially thought that, but decided I would have bid rather than so that leaves me North having both minors with probably longer and some decent distribution/hcp count.

I would have opened 1 as South. In the actual auction I am passing. You have described your hand on the previous round with X. Do not bid you hand twice.

Agreed it's just bad bridge not to open this which is an easy 12 count with the intermediates, AJ10 is worth 6, with the 9 even more and you have the 10 as frosting.

Not sure what a human partner could have that didn't overcall, but I expect to be suffering club ruffs so a save is unlikely to be cheap.

It does not really matter what we think the robot has, nor even that we failed to open. We promised a maximum pass with 4 spades and 4 diamonds and our hand has not changed since then. We simply have nothing more to add to the conversation so if passing here is wrong, it is either going to be on CHO or the dealer.
