strong response to better minor

Yup, that's pretty standard, I would start with 2 inverted. If I don't have that, 3N 13-15 3343/3334 is also possible.

inverted minor is a great idea !

never understood what opener rebid after to show minimum openinig[hv=pc=n&w=skt85hj93daqj94c3]133|100[/hv]

anyway this is west hand and oponet lead the 7 of to king and i took with the ace of club tryed the diamond finees who lost and another club

i end up 1 down

Depends on whether you play 1-2 forcing to game or just a one round force, but 1-2-2 is how it's likely to start particularly if your invert can contain a 4 card major as ours can but most peoples' can't.

Many minimums bid 3 over the invert.

So your choices were: reach 3N by responder and go down when they guess to lead a club AND the diamond hook fails or reach 5D by west and usually go down (you might make if you can take 3 spade tricks without losing one, but take away the impossible to value spade 9 and you’ll lose a spade trick much of the time,..take away the 10 instead, and you’ll lose a spade trick every time, or stay out of spgame with 26 hcp, every suit double stopped and a source of tricks

Bridge is fun in larger part because, no matter how well one bids, one can fail in a good contract or sometimes make a hair-raisingly bad contract

Shrug, move on.

As for my response…depends who I’m playing with. In one partnership, 1D promises an unbalanced hand )will have as few as 4 only if 1444/4144/4441) and now I’d use inverted. But we play a fairly complex set of responses…here opener would bid 3D to show a minimum and I’d bid the doomed 3N. C’est la vie
