razorsharp
EZ peazy - you bid your 2!D. then the fun starts - on the next round depending on who you play, what you hear, & how you feel about "walking the dog". You are worth game, but how about 2!S-3!S - 4!S?

Bridgezap1
MPs, game all. My RHO held this hand: ♠KQ874♥3♦AQJT53♣4 My partner (their RHO) opens 1NT 15-17. What would you do here if you do not have a two suited overcall to show these two suits? I would bid 2D showing 10+pts and 4D looking for a possible M or D fit. AL78
Unsurprisingly a lot of people advocating bidding diamonds followed by spades. My RHO didn't know what to do and ended up doing nothing: [hv=pc=n&s=sathkq95d7642caq6&w=skq874h3daqjt53c4&n=s652hat864d9ct953&e=sj93hj72dk8ckj872&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=1np2dp2hppp]399|300[/hv] Partner made nine tricks for 12/14 MPs. One EW pair was in 3♦, the rest were in some number of spades making nine or ten tricks. The only NS pair we didn't beat was the pair who found a double of 4♠ and took it one off. This illustrates the randomness of club duplicate, at least in my bridge world.
blackshoe
HELLO is a pretty good defense to 1NT. It's a descendant of Cappelletti/Hamilton/Helms/Pottage developed by Jerry Helms and his partners. There's a good booklet on it by Jerry which, last I checked, is available from Baron-Barclay. apollo1201
"I don't know what to do, so I pass" is the bane of beginner bridge.Isn’t it the walrus of V. Mollo who passed a balanced 16 count because to please a new partner, he had agreed to play weak NT?
Douglas43
I'd go and learn a method to make two-suited overcalls.
