First move

 

 

If you mean why did it lead the ♥2 instead of the ♥9, it always leads low from three small even in NT for some reason. Just the way it's programmed.

 

If you mean why didn't it lead a club, a club is very unlikely to work well at MPs - it'll be great if it finds AKx or maybe four clubs opposite, but otherwise you can never get more than 2 club tricks, and there are many holdings where it will give away an extra overtrick.

 

Comparing club and heart over 100 simulated hands:

 

- in 11 cases, the contract is going down on both leads, and there's no difference

- in 7 cases, a club beats the contract when a heart doesn't

- in 4 cases, a heart beats the contact when a club doesn't

 

But most importantly, in the other 78 cases where the contract is always making.. on 53 of these both leads are equal, but a heart is better on 19 occasions, and a club only better on 6 occasions.

 

Eg:

GIB almost always leads passively to avoid giving away extra tricks like this. (Spade was about the same result, both scoring better than a club.)
