Only the Q and 5 are out. Why not play the 8?

I can only think it felt sorry for me because of the previous hand.[/hv]

You've promised 5 spades. It doesn't matter what it plays since there is a 100% chance you have exactly 1 club left.

Edit - OK, not true, you might be 6502. But GIB obviously doesn't think you have that for your bid, which it always trusts 100% of the time.

Either that or it's just playing a random card, which we know it does from time to time even if all simulations of 1+ hand would tell it not to.

What game is this? Crazy eights???

You play Q on 2nd heart? That's a GIB play. Shouldn't matter if you are 5-5 in the majors, but still....

Trick 4 - GIB takes finesses the 10 with AK10 opposite Qx??? I repeat, what game is this?

Trick 9 - GIB already has 12 top tricks. Why play on clubs at all? Just cash the top 12 tricks. (3, 4, 3, 2) Why not take the club finesse earlier instead of cashing another top club which only works against 6=5=0=2???

Also, at trick 7, why not cash AK before playing J to ace and then there is a club-diamond squeeze against North if they have club queen and you aren't going to finesse.

I'm looking forward to the reasoning behind taking a spade finesse with the 10 at trick 4.

That's usually where you come in, you're much too unsarcastic today ;) I think GIB runs even less sims than we think and North just never holds the Ace. Or it was just a random card again. The more I run experiments with GIB, the less sense it makes even at the most basic level.

Another situation where Gib "knows" that it is making exactly no matter what card it plays. Gib does not use any kind of fuzzy logic. You have shown 55?? and therefore must have it.

Introducing fuzzy logic into a bidding/play system is possible but I think beyond the current design of Gib.

In fact, I have implemented a simple system that uses FL for the last few tricks and this is currently beating Gib at about 57% over 10000 hands.

What is FL?

As mentioned at other comments it might be an idea to stop all simulations around trick 10 and just check all possible combinations
