Is there any chance?

You end up in 6 played by south. West leads 8. Do you see any chance of making this contract?

It looks hopeless, but it can be made.

Draw 2 rounds of trumps, then 4 rounds of hearts, discarding a club from the dummy.

If east ruffs the 4th round, then a spade entry is created and 2 club losers are discarded on the high diamonds.

If east does not ruff, then play club ace and queen, west cannot prevent the club ruff.

Nice hand.

I'll have a go.

Play the 9 on the 8 and assume that East covers.

Now lead the 4 and duck in North, if East wins with the J then win return and play the 5 to North two top discard 2 .

If East ducks again, Run 4's throwing a club from North, if East ruffs the 4th Heart you have an entry to discard clubs, if East doesnt ruff then you play AQ clubs and ruff the 3rd round in North losing just 1 I think.

Not just any club, the J or 10 in particular. Else Ace and a low club forks the defense.  But East can unblock his high clubs for West to win.

Any club would do. At second club (Q or 3), West plays K and continues 3rd for East to (over) ruff.

You are right. If East pitches C8, South could cash 3rd trump and then CA and small C...

You can play for a pseudo squeeze:

play 3 rounds of trumps

play 3 rounds of hearts

then another round of trumps, now this may be the layout:

[hv=n=shdakxxcxx&w=shdjxxckxx&e=shdxxxcxxx&s=sxxhxdcaqx]399|300|[/hv]

If you play a 5th round of trumps, west may think you have the following hand:

xx

-

xx

AJ

If he discards a , then you can drop the K.

There's no double dummy solution, only way is a mistake from opponents. Best line is to play low in trick 2. If East overtakes you make your contract. If he doesn't, go to plan B by playing the s and discarding a . But if East is still awake, he'll still get you down.

I had a bonus question, but you guys already saw that if you swap 8 and 9, it's cold :)
