CraigRT
At my bridge club the hands, bidding etc are available for download after in PBN format. Is it possible to load up the PBN into BBO so that my partner and I can practice the hands again, going over bidding and play?
pilowsky
BBO accepts .LIN format which look like this: qx|o2|md|4SAJ42H92DT74CKQ96,ST98HQ87543DQ92C3,SKQ7HAKT6DA6CAT82|rh||ah|Board2|sv|n|pg|| .PBN files look like this:[board "1"][West "?"][North "?"][East "?"][south "?"][Dealer "N"][Vulnerable "None"][Deal "N:KQ7.AKT6.A6.AT82 653.J.KJ853.J754 AJ42.92.T74.AT82 T98.Q87543.Q92.3"][scoring "?"][Declarer "?"][Contract "?"][Result "?"] I haven't tried it but apparently this site will convert PBN to LIN

I converted it and uploaded it in my settings page. But now what? How can me and my partner practice those hands? Can we do selected tricky ones? Or can we only play through the lot? I can't find anywhere where I get to specify to use that file as the deal.

paulg
Uploading the hands - (the login bug mentioned was fixed a long time ago) Using loaded hands at a bidding table - You cannot play hands at a bidding table, but you can use the same process to load hands at a teaching table if you want to play them with a partner. Robots are not free at teaching tables though. You will also have to toggle the teaching option that shows the host all the hands!
CraigRT
Thanks, very helpful! Plenty to play around with there. I usually use BBO app on my iPad but the auction and bidding window seem to overlap. Doesn't seem an issue on my computer in a web browser. Is that something othrs have found? Is there a way around that?
CraigRT
Just about there, thanks all. One last thing. Tonight my partner and I were EW, up after loading up the LIN file it assumes NS. Can I change that assumption on how BBO handles a bidding table? CraigRT
Hmm. How about rotating the hands before importing them, would that be possible?
paulg
Hmm. How about rotating the hands before importing them, would that be possible? There are some tools, like Dealmaster Pro, that can help but they are not simple to use especially if you worry about the vulnerability. CraigRT
I guess best to look at teaching tables to go over our club game hands. Or always try and sit NS!!
