How to save a hand.

To get a permanent link, please click the link to movie, in myhands:

 

So I went to the database and found a hand I wanted to review.

I clicked on the movie link and it opened a new tab in my Chrome browser on MacOS.

It looked like this: https://www.bridgeba...962-1643099400

Instead of the promised full file.

 

Interestingly if you click on the link pasted here it auto-adds a "." to the end of the link and no cards appear.

I added the same link under the word "this" and it works fine.

What did I do wrong (apart from the bidding and play of course).

You've likely got some setting in your browser that is blocking popups.

 

If you right click on the Movie link and choose inspect, you'll see the link has onclick="hv_popuplin('xxx');this.style.color='red';return false;"

 

That should result in a popup with the URL https://www.bridgebase.com/tools/handviewer.html?bbo=y&lin=xxx, which is the one to save.

I disabled the Adblocker and went to advanced settings where I specifically allowed BBO.com to show redirects and popups.

Chrome blocks these by default.

If I inspect the link as you suggest I can see that the whole link is present in the inspector tab (in both C and FF) but cannot get it to show in chrome.

Then I allowed all popups and redirects and I still get: https://www.bridgeba...6962-1643099400

Suggesting this is a Chrome issue.

This may be a problem since although I quite like Firefox, most people don't prefer it.

Works fine in Chrome for me. There's also nothing in the code that makes the link open in a new tab; perhaps you have some add-on or similar that forces all links to open in new tabs. (Right clicking the link and asking it to open in a new tab will bypass the popup and take you to the wrong page).

Not sure what that add-on might be but when I open it from my Pixel I get a shareable link:
