Anyone reckon they could escape this blunder

Hi all

Idly wondering whether to bid 1C or 2NT ended up accidentally bidding 2C

The responders 2D was taken as a transfer by me to 2H since I was still in 2NT land (then noticed the error)

Any thoughts :)

I failed to find an escape since my NT trump attempts ended up in Blackwood via 3NT-4H. I ended up passing the first Blackwood response of 5D hoping for a miraculous diamond game. I think passing 3H would have been my best score

I am sure escapology is an important skill in Bridge

Your best shot is to bid 3; if GIB bids 4 (or cuebids), bid 4 (or whatever the cheapest control is). GIB loves to bid Blackwood, and passing it at least gives you hope.

This should be in the GIB forum though..

Its not really a GiB thingy since it was my blunder and GiB actually bid to card as far as I can tell

I'm not sure what 3S means. Probably a cue bid

Sadly partner didn't have much. Just enough for 3NT if you were lucky
