As Sinatra sang: We're drinkin', my friendTo the end of a brief episodeMake it one for my babyAnd one more for the road Do you add one for the road? Your methods are 4-card majors, Weak no-trump, Double take out, implying four spades. Others on request.
nullve
Conundrums 1, 2 and 3: You have left out a huge amount of information that would have been available to us at the table.
mikeh
I do. 6S for me. I’d have bid the same way with Qxxx Qxx KQx Qxx and this is better…imagine AKxxx AKxxxx x x Of course at the table I’d know partner’s style with modest 5=6 hands. If he’d distort with 1S, then slam is even better…..note that I don’t think 5S should usually bid on a 4 card suit, which is an arguable point, I’m sure. AKJx AKJxxx xx x is, I suppose, possible and a diamond lead may well beat us since spades will be 4-1 quite often given the 4C call. So I bid slam. Note that some opps may bid 7C if we bid slam in tempo…if we dither and telegraph that we’re not sure, they’ll pass. Btw, we have to avoid dithering when we have a clear bid. I think this is a dithering hand, fwiw, but I’d hope I bid 6S in tempo.

After all he was the Titanic Townsend. Partner will open 5-6-?-? with 1H, I think. Maybe not KJTxx KJTxxx Kx none. When I get that I will think again. Yes 5S must be a 5-bagger as you have not guaranteed four spades.
cherdano
Looks like an instant pass to me.
akwoo
What would partner's double of 5C have been?
lamford
What would partner's double of 5C have been?Surely penalties. And pass would be forcing I think at these colours.
Mariner1
P should have bid 6♠ or even 6♣ if what you have, which is at the minimum level for your call, would have been enough for a slam.
akwoo
Surely penalties. And pass would be forcing I think at these colours. In that case I pass. Partner could have pass-and-pulled if they really wanted to invite slam.
