mcphee
[hv=d=w&v=b&n=sk654hkq6dk1094c72&w=sj98h932daq532cj6&e=saq2ha1074dj87cq84&s=s1073hj85d6cak10953]399|300|Scoring: IMP[/hv] west begins and we are off;P P 1C 2C natural CP 3N all pass A lot more straight forward than the first segment and you make the normal lead of a low H. Declarer plays low, partner pops in the 9 and the Q wins. All perfectly normal. Naturally declarer leads a C toward the table and you play your Q I trust. It can of course never cost you anything and it is the right play if you expect to have any chance of eliminating the C suit from the game. Declarer grabs the K and leads a D from table and partner pops A to return a H. Do we think this is the right play? On the H return declarer plays the honor card from hand which you allow to win thus preventing loss of comunication to partenrs hand and at the same time denying a late table entry to the C suit. Declarer now leads his last C. Now my assessment here is that it is wrong to assume your LHO split C from QJ84 on the first lead as that would give up the suit allowing it to play for 5 winners anytime declarer holds 2C and partner 1. As declarer do you play your opponent to have made a poor play and insert the 10 now? This declarer did, losing to the now stiff J and failing 3 tricks, even though you could have now beat it 4, 3 off was surely a fine result. Now, here is what happened. This declarer now makes the remark that he has been cheated privately to one of the opponents. It does not cross his mind that he has played the hand poorly at all. If your opps were making use of a messenger or phone communication would they at not at least return a S to make sure 3NT failed when in with the A of D. Would or could they have played a low D rather than pop A knowing this declarer is not the best player on the block and was going to finesse C and lose to the stiff J? My feelings are this player has an ego the size of Texas and we should take away his lollie pops for 1 week! <_<
luke warm
cheated? based on what? yes i agree with rising with the ♦A and i wouldn't return a heart because it might set up a needed entry to the clubs... so a spade back looks right
JSilver
Nice falsecard. Partner did his job. I had some sympathy for declarer until he started levelling accusations.
Fluffy
IF he doesn't know about such plays its time he starts to learn <_<, after it hits him a couple more times in the face he will begin to understand.
Fluffy
What would you had done if the ♣Q was allowed to win?, maybe another deceptive play of looking desesperate and leading ♠A + ♠Q would be needed, a low ♥ return might look to suspicious.
