nudnikbp
In a playeer's BBO profile a compatibility rating is shown. For example, mine is five stars, which sounds good, but how is that determined?

For example, mine is five stars, which sounds good, but how is that determined? It means that your system and approach is 100% compatible with... yourself. When the system was introduced if you added your name to a partnership desk you would have 5 stars - suggesting that you know your own system (sometimes true for me).Other people in the list would have a variable number of stars depending on how close their methods were to yours.Sometime ago all the other stars disappeared except mine.Climate change, light pollution who knows? Now I the only stars I see in my eyes are my own. PrecisionL
I never see anyone else with 5 stars to match my five.

It's meant to be used for looking at someone else's profile, which compares you to that player and generates a result based on: we factor in ( unordered) profile-country, real location, language, masterpoints, avg adjusted points earned per hand, #people who mark u as a friend vs enemy , award symbol, starriness (Nothing to do with what system you play.) Douglas43
The strange thing is, I've played hundreds of boards on BBO with my regular partner who is the same standard as me, plays the same system (natch) and lives two miles down the road. And he gets zero stars. Is BBO trying to tell us something?

It's really a quite crude tool, and I wouldn't put too much store in it.
