I played a match against a Scottish team recently, using the sobriquet "The Merry Macs" and was on lead on this hand. What is your opening salvo?

If the opponents are called the merry macs, I assume I have to lead the K♥ to remove the Ax from dummy that was needed as an entry later.

Indeed, dummy had xx Ax AQJxxx xxx and partner will duck the first round of diamonds. It could easily go wrong however!

I have played against Adrian la Chapelle and his daughter Imogen, who I recall soundly beat us. Maybe I should have tried some king leads.

I dont mind trying for a merrimac coupe when it seems logical to give it a try. I see no evidence (other than the opps name) that would suggest such a lead so
