bglover
Many (too many IMHO) people now have access to lobby chat that overrides the setting to turn it off. There was a reason why these people were initially given this privilige... to announce that tourneys were going on. Now, many (WAY TOO MANY) of these people use this privilige to conduct coversations with each other, for no apparent reason but to show that they have this privilige and can annoy the rest of us. I strongly suggest that these priviliges be revoked once a tourney has been completed as this problem is becoming increasingly annoying to many of us... mink
I thought the privilege only existed while I was director. But I just tested it (I did not actually send a message) and learnt that I still have it, and it is the default chat destination when not at a table or in a tourney. This way, it can easily happen that you speak to everybody just because you forgot to click on the name of the person you wanted to address. I hope I didn't do it yet, and I shall be most careful with my chat in future. I agree with you that the privilege should be revoked when the tourney disappears from the tourney list, or should be only in effect if a director is located inside one of his tourneys. sdebois
Let me get this straight: Since I have TD-privileges on BBO, whenever I chat-to-lobby, everybody receives, even those who ticked "Ignore Chat from Lobby"?

bglover
I just asked (nicely) someone who has the lobby chat privilige not to abuse it. He refused and said I was infringing on his free speech rights. This is a perfect example of my point. This person clearly knew he was doing it, and clearly therefore was using his right as his little "forum" for showing off his ability to override the rights of others. There is absolutely no need for this. I again implore that lobby chat priviliges be revoked after a tourney has ended.
keylime
Free speech is a most pitiful crutch to use when you can single-handedly spam the lobby with messages that very much don't apply to the masses.
bglover
Since I have started this thread, I have politely asked each person who has the privilige to not abuse it and pointed out to them they are broadcasting to all of us. Some said they were not aware and said they would be more careful, but others told me take a flying leap off a bridge.... Easy to solve this... Jangvik
This problem is something that annoys me a lot. There is a reason that I have checked 'Ignore message from lobby'. And that reason is not that I want to hear nn searching for a p, or hearing nn telling nn that a heart should be played.I do appreciate all people that act as directors voluntarily, do not take offense. But the more directors, the more nonsenschat appears in my messagebox. And I don't think it's my duty to tell everyone who is abusing/misunderstanding this option that I don't want to hear them, like 2over1 does. Solution is simple, just let he/she have this option short before tourney and disable it when tourney is over.
